Week 14... Fantasy Moan, Starts and such...
My fantasy season has been one big blow out aftr another this year. Out of the draft league despite having the mecurial manning at QB, (for mecurial read mistake ridden), and facing humiliation in the hometeam challenge, im ready for packing my bags and enjoying an NFL free christmas.
Its not going to happen however.
Miracles happen at christmas...
...and i cannot just simply give up hope on my NFL side despite there being just 4 weeks left. The bug is simply just too strong, and no sooner has this NFL season got underway, than it has ended again, leaving us to wish away another 6 months of our lives so we can go down the pub on that summers evening and draft another fantasy nfl team.
so i hope...
...i hope i can find the few low-down players that will put up bigger scores than all the studs - i mean - its happened for the most part of the season anyway hasn't it.
...i hope that my main rivals above me (that would be almost everyone then) will catch the dirtiest of fantasy dirt and be struck down by the ever powerful fantasy gods.
it seems i will just hope in vain. This week i sat second with 69 points from 3 players on Friday morning. The situation, and the chance for a healthy catch up in points on the next players looked good. Ok Chris Johnsons benching at half time had me throwing chairs around at work and suspending staff left right and centre for dareing to ask why i was so bothered, cos it doesn't make sense anyway...... How dare they! Do they not realise how important this is? However all in all, Romo, Owens and Johnson had put me in a strong position. Unfortunately it all went wrong. I can't complain really, Gates for 2 points - how much you expect from a tight end, Hartley, the kicker for 8. It was Ronnie Browns 10 points that upset me, as his carries were limited. Andre Johnson did ok with 13, and the Giants DST put up 14 (disappointing). I just felt an opportunity had been missed. Slaton for 30 points was affordable, the Titans DST for 27 was an obvious, and yet missed opporrtunity. A 4th placed finish was better than i have managed in recent weeks, but its not enough
A weekly finish of 4th is my best
So who should you pick this week...
If your topping your hometeam table, then go safe... Peterson, Jones, and such have decent matchups. If on the otherhand like me you need some christmas magic - close your eyes, curl your finger around like so, and pick whatever player it lands on.
