2019 NFL Round 1 Mock Draft

2019 NFL Round 1 Mock Draft

It’s that time of year! With only a few weeks left until the teams convene in Nashville, I present my first round mock draft. This year I am not predicting any trades in the first round but there are still some really interesting picks and I am expecting four quarterbacks to be taken in the first round. Read on for all 32 picks…

1) Arizona Cardinals - QB Kyler Murray

In what will probably be considered the worst-kept secret of this year’s draft, I think the Cardinals will select Kyler Murray first overall. He is a great talent and new coach Kliff Kingsbury will have a lot to build around with Murray at the centre of that offence.

2) San Francisco 49ers - DE Nick Bosa

A polished edge rusher and generally considered the best player in the draft, Nick Bosa is a great pick for a team sorely in need of a star pass rusher. Coupled with the 49ers’ free agent additions, Bosa will ensure that this defence is miles better than last year.

3) New York Jets - DT Quinnen Williams

Williams is the defensive star this Jets side needs following the acquisition of Le'veon Bell on the offensive side - Williams is a dynamic player with few weaknesses and impressive speed.

4) Oakland Raiders - DE Josh Allen

In the first of three picks in this round, I believe the Raiders will look to acquire a big pass rusher with proven talent and massive potential. Josh Allen is that guy.

5) Tampa Bay Buccaneers - LB Devin White

Linebacker is a key need for the Bucs and White is an exciting, physically-adept linebacker with significant NFL promise who can really add to a team that has struggled on both sides of the ball in recent years.

6) New York Giants - DE Rashan Gary

Despite the overwhelming need for a QB, I think the Giants will elect to draft a versatile defensive player to elevate the team on that side of the ball. I believe the Giants will make a play for current Cardinals QB Josh Rosen to fill that need.

7) Jacksonville Jaguars - OT Jawaan Taylor

Taylor is a 6’5” 334lbs offensive tackle who has improved in every season at Florida and would help the Jags protect new QB Nick Foles.

8) Detroit Lions - TE Noah Fant

Fant is an athletic tight end with the speed of a receiver who can really add some excitement to this Lions offence.

9) Buffalo Bills - WR D.K. Metcalf

D.K. Metcalf is an explosive, gifted wide receiver and would make an excellent target for Josh Allen.

10) Denver Broncos - QB Dwayne Haskins

The Broncos have been trying (and failing) for several years to find their QB of the future. Haskins is a great talent who will learn well from an experienced QB like Joe Flacco.

11) Cincinnati Bengals - LB Devin Bush

Bush is a physical, versatile linebacker who would make a great addition to any defence - a great replacement for Vontaze Burfict.

12) Green Bay Packers - TE T.J. Hockenson

Hockenson is a talented, balanced TE with few weaknesses - very similar to George Kittle and a tremendous weapon for Aaron Rodgers.

13) Miami Dolphins - QB Drew Lock

The Dolphins need a franchise quarterback after cutting loose Ryan Tannehill - Lock is physically gifted and will develop mentally behind Free Agency signing Ryan Fitzpatrick.

14) Atlanta Falcons - DT Ed Oliver

Oliver is an impressively quick player with the ability to elevate a defence. A welcome addition for the Falcons as they try to regain the form they showed in 2016.

15) Washington Redskins - WR Marquise Brown

A great deep threat with dominant speed and a high ceiling - Brown will be a great addition to this Washington team.

16) Carolina Panthers - DT Christian Wilkins

A solid defensive tackle who has shown great things so far in his career - a good pick at this point in the draft.

17) New York Giants - OT Jonah Williams

Williams is a talented and versatile offensive lineman who could play at tackle or guard. Either way, the Giants have struggled for several years to protect Eli Manning - Williams will be great for Manning and his successor.

18) Minnesota Vikings - G Cody Ford

The Vikings have a pressing need at Guard and Cody Ford is an exciting, gifted player with impressive tape.

19) Tennessee Titans - DE Brian Burns

Burns has proven himself a dominant pass rusher throughout his college career - great value for Titans at this position.

20) Pittsburgh Steelers - CB Byron Murphy

Pittsburgh have a need at corner and the remarkable Murphy is top CB on most draft boards with potentially game-changing talent.

21) Seattle Seahawks - DE Montez Sweat

With the Legion of Boom over, Seattle have been looking for a new defensive star and Montez Sweat could definitely be that guy - a good solid pass rusher.

22) Baltimore Ravens - C Garrett Bradbury

Bradbury has great blocking skills and would be a good addition to the Ravens’ offensive line in front of QB Lamar Jackson.

23) Houston Texans - G Chris Lindstrom

Texans QB Deshaun Watson was sacked more times than any other last season - Lindstrom is consistent, versatile and a great addition to this offensive line.

24) Oakland Raiders - CB Greedy Williams

Yet another dynamic defensive player for Oakland as they look to rebuild this team - Williams is an athletic corner with a high ceiling.

25) Philadelphia Eagles - RB Josh Jacobs

Widely regarded as the best running back on the board, Jacobs would be incredible value at 25 for a team that desperately needs a star RB.

26) Indianapolis Colts - DT Dexter Lawrence

The Colts need a big, strong defensive lineman and Lawrence is just that - a big strong defensive lineman and a day 1 starter.

27) Oakland Raiders - RB Devin Singletary

With their final first round pick the Raiders add an offensive weapon in running back Devin Singletary -an interesting back with plenty of development opportunities.

28) Los Angeles Chargers - WR Hakeem Butler

Butler is a promising downfield threat and will make a great target for Philip Rivers as the Chargers look to build on a great 2018 season.

29) Kansas City Chiefs - DE Clelin Ferrell

Defence was the weaker side of the ball for the Chiefs last season and with a new defensive scheme and coordinator, a high impact DE like Ferrell will be a great addition.

30) Green Bay Packers - S Nasir Adderley

Adderley is an incredible prospect at safety with very little downside who the Packers will hope can get that ball into the hands of Aaron Rodgers.

31) Los Angeles Rams - CB DeAndre Baker

The Rams have a few needs on defence and Baker is a talented, competitive player who should be a welcome addition to the team.

32) New England Patriots - QB Daniel Jones

Jones is not the most talented QB in the draft but his skill set could be a good match for the Patriots when Tom Brady eventually hangs up his boots

That’s it - a full first round mock draft. Let me know in the comments below how your mock drafts compare to mine.

The 2019 NFL Draft begins on 25th April. All action will be available live on NFL Network.
